Imagine this: you walk into a public restroom in China, but instead of just grabbing toilet paper… you have to scan a QR code and watch an ad first 😅. Only then will the machine dispense a tiny sheet of tissue. Don’t feel like watching? You can also pay 0.5 RMB (about $0.07) for a bit more paper 💸. This system is designed to cut down waste — some people would abuse free paper before. Now, it’s all about “watch an ad or pay a coin.” Would you sit through an ad for free toilet paper, or just drop the 0.5 yuan? 👀 . . .

You’re kidding, right? Just make the restroom paid…50¢ or whatever the equivalent reasonable price is there. Cash or tap. Not make it impossible to wipe your ass if you have a dead battery, bad connection, no phone, whatever. Also needing to visit a site or download/use an app and being forced to watch yet more ads is BS.

And this type of mentality is why people did nothing when Sony and Nintendo decided to start charging for multiplayer. And why companies keep doing shrinkflation and getting away with it for other products.

They never seem to see an issue with being bent over, and keep defending it and finding reasons to justify being charged for everything.
