Wait, that was real? I only saw the screenshot on Lemmy and assumed it was a shitpost.

I’m anaphylactic to lentils and peanuts, and less allergic to other legumes too. If I ever became vegetarian or vegan I think I’d starve to death.
I’m not currently requiring budget protein (I’m still poor-ish but not as bad as some) but my bills are about to skyrocket soon (need to upsize apartment, looking at around ~$600 increase per month) so I might need to look at budget options soon.

The most recent federal election here was 92% conservative in Alberta

I mostly agree but I’d say AB would be closer to 90:10 R. I’ve got family and friends there and it’s very conservative. I don’t actually know a single liberal Albertan.
The rest is spot on though.

I’ve found many 0% drinks to try and add the warm/burning feeling that you get from alcohol and it never works well.

I like both alcoholic beer and non-alcoholic beer, but if it’s 0% it needs to taste like its own thing. I’ve had 0% beer where you can tell they’re trying to taste like there’s still alcohol in it and it’s never that great. If you can’t have alcohol I get it, but for me, it turns me off from the beer.
Corona Sunbrew is an example of a 0% beer that doesn’t have that fake alcohol taste to it. I’m moving away from lagers a bit now to expand my tastes so I don’t drink Sunbrew anymore but my wife drinks it and I’ll have a sip from time to time and it’s actually good. It doesn’t taste like it’s trying to fake being an alcoholic drink. It’s not the perfect beer or anything but it tastes like 0% beer without tasting like a cheap knockoff.

Everyone I’ve read that’s used Fedora has liked it. I’d consider it on a secondary machine or something maybe.
Cachy has been awesome, I’d recommend it if you decide to change distros in the future. I’m enjoying Arch as a base more than Ubuntu for sure. I haven’t tried anything based on Fedora though other than Bazzite which is immutable, so I’m not sure if that really counts.
Nix seems cool but its big selling point that I’ve read is easy reproduction which I don’t think I’d utilize much. I might be missing something, but Arch seems more for me personally.

I distro hopped a bit but landed on CachyOS, which is arch-based (btw) but a lot more straightforward to install and has a faster kernel supposedly. It’s been fantastic, I much prefer it to windows. Still getting used to the occasional hiccup but it’s worth it. I was never too attached to windows anyway. I’m currently running KDE Plasma but I want to try out Hyprland or something similar. It seems really cool. I have to look into how to download it though.

I’m so glad I switched to Linux when I did (a couple months ago). I was dual booting for a bit but two weeks ago I removed my windows partition. Feels good to be free.
Yeah that was basically my thought too. I probably do less than a quarter of that on average, but that’s not really the point. I should be allowed as much time as I want. Not that I use a Nvidia subscription anyway, but still. This makes me mad on behalf of other people.
