I believe it’s equally important to speak the language of the region you inhabit in your private life so that you and your family become proficient, as well as speaking literally any other language so you and your family remain at least bilingual. It’s been my limited experience that parental controls are pretty strong these days. I think that a really key difference circles back to the social media exposure discussion. Sure, they seek it out eventually, but with always on social media they’re going to find out about things a lot earlier than they need to, which is why I also called out the social media companies for their unethical behaviour.

Parenting and parental examples are a huge component of teaching kids to be responsible adults. When I was a kid, parental controls if they existed were a challenge that I worked on learning to circumvent (and I learned a lot about computers), but today they’re pretty bulletproof. But parents don’t use them at all. There’s not even an attempt made to limit screen time or exposure to pornography.

It’s not just parents of course; tech companies are absolutely responsible as well. It’s a complex issue.

Those are good. I got tired of dealing with the unique trouble that comes of having drives attached with a USB JBOD. Also it was just a celeron and kinda melted doen if I ran motion detection with Scrypted.

Idle. Under load a bit more. It’s a mobile chipset, so it is efficient. Not as powerful as a desktop for sure but totally handles my basic workloads.

My NAS draws about 25w (without drives). Show me an old PC with 6 3.5” drive bays that draws 25w.

As company profits grow, so should the compensation of the workers. A war is a good time for bomb companies to profit wildly. 60 hour weeks are not sustainable though, in the long term - workers simply hit a productivity ceiling.

If there’s a war, and the 60 hour weeks are spent productively fighting the war, instead of keeping chairs warm for the managers, I’m confident many people will accept the effort.

Currently my understanding of lion recycling is they grind it, dump it into a slurry, and some of the metals are recovered and the rest is a toxic soup. Mostly because the recycling is very much under development.

I think that the lesson we can draw from this is that the current system of auto recycling needs more guidelines as we move forward with EVs.

My understanding of the current process is that it’s quite wasteful/under development. With the state of things as they are it seems unlikely that the automakers are going to improve things over the recycling that they encouraged with lead acid. But one can hope, and lobby for change.

Imagine the damage recycling EV batteries will cause.
