The countries were at peace before something caused them to escalate into a war. You can’t just declare that a war has ended by having a representative from each side sign a piece of paper and expect it to remain this way without addressing the root causes that lead to said war to begin with.

But trying to understand the situation and finding ways to address those root causes requires far more work than Trump can be bothered with. He only cares about giving the impression that he did something.

As usual, Trump has an overly simplistic view of the problem to match his abysmal level of understanding of it, and proposes equally simplistic solutions to it. He then declares he fixed it because of how much of a genius he is and then ignores the evidence that it didn’t work.

It’s like they’re not trusting the US for the defence of their sovereignty. That’s weird. I wonder why.

What worries me is what he will do after he doesn’t win that prize and is no longer incentivised to maintain that extremely superficial pretense of “peace” that he’s already awful at.

They’ve crunched the numbers and know the vast majority of those people will die long before they are entitled to the money. They just won’t pay the rest.

Not necessarily. These animals can be acclimatized and eased into it in stages to give them a fighting chance. Even if the chance of success is slim, I still fully expect the assholes who decided to breed these animals in captivity to be financially liable to cover the cost of that.

Otherwise, whoever owns these animals should be legally bound to financially support them until they die of old age. If someone decides to breed sentient creatures in captivity they should know that they can’t just discard them like an old newspaper if that doesn’t turn out to be a good investment.

The alternative is the equivalent of shooting the toddlers in the back of the head.

Either way is horrible.

They should release them. They might not survive but at least they’ll have a chance.
