Several major EU donors, including France’s President Emmanuel Macron, also did not attend, but von der Leyen’s no show is a surprise as she is understood to already be in Johannesburg for the G20 summit.
I would assume the announcement of the Russian-American surrender plan for Ukraine has something to do with it.
That is true because the individual engagement is much higher in a smaller community. On reddit you’d just be one of thousands shouting into the void. It also helps that Lemmy pushes new comments to the top.

The problem with this specific conflict is that otherwise “reputable” news agencies are just repeating what their sources are saying because they cannot verify the details of what’s actually going on on the ground in Gaza. So you get shaky cellphone footage of some people getting shot and some humanitarian NGOs will publish that civilians are being murdered. A journalist writes an article about it. The Israeli military then publishes a statement that they killed some Hamas official and his henchmen. Another journalist writes an article about it. Both newspapers are usually credible sources that are accepted on Wikipedia. So what do you do? Who is actually right?

Hamburg - nothing to write home about, but I’ve been to it in over a decade
Have you been to the “official” one in front of the City Hall or the one in the red-light district? The latter can certainly be an experience.

15% ist already an insane number considering the size of Reddit’s userbase.
When the EU’s former competition Commissioner, Margrethe Vestager, announced those preliminary findings she warned that the only effective remedy – should the violations be confirmed – would be for the EU to break up Google.
No other option would resolve the “inherent” conflict of interest flowing from Google’s dominance of all sides of the ad market, Vestager suggested two years ago.
Yes please.

Don’t forget “I’m not taking the vaccine because Bill Gates wants to implant a chip in my brain!”

What a ridiculous comparison.

I know people who were affected when a Windows 10 update just straight up deleted all personal files in 2020.
Lots oft countries allow you to stop in the “emergency lane” without actually having an emergency.

Most are made out of mixtures of metals like copper, iron and steel. Ceramic brakes are more prone to fading though.

I often drive through pretty mountainous regions, coasting or even downshifting won’t help much unfortunately.

No, a so called “transfer film” forms on the surface of the disk that reduces the overall wear and resulting brake dust.
Though it should be noted that you shouldn’t just slap on ceramic pads without also changing to new rotors as the pattern of wear from the pads is different.

For anyone doing the brakes on their car, look into ceramic brake pads. I’ve recently replaced mine and used the ones from ATE and it’s actually insane how much less brake dust these give off. My front wheels used to be absolutely coated in black dust after long road trips but now there is pretty much zero buildup. They are only like 1-2 Euros more expensive than the regular ones. It’s a total no-brainer.

Splitting the base is a good thing.

Same thing with China and the UAE as well. The “deal” is not worth the paper it is printed on, it’s merely a band-aid to get down from the 30% tariff ASAP.
Some members also beat a police officer with a sledgehammer and he was in recovery for three months due to an injury to his spine.
