Yeah I’m 42 and my work is well-paid (for me) but not regular. It’s been particularly bad lately. I do not even have health insurance since I got divorced this year. I long ago realized I will have to work until I die, and I think most Americans are in the same situation. This is in a low cost of living area, I travel for work as an independent contractor.

It’s the newspaper (news site or app now) problem. You read the news from your venue of choice, taking it all in, sorting out how you feel about it, maybe pick a side on an issue. Then you turn the page and there it is. An article about your career field in A.

Wow, you might think, they got this so wrong. They clearly have no understanding of A. You might even get angry about it.

And then you read the next article.

Typical trip on psilocybin is going to be 4-6 hours. They had enough time to get lost, think their friend was dead, find apparently some kind of trail guide (which makes me think they were pretty close to civilization) and then wait for the cops. They were probably well on their way to normal by that time.

Two people, tripping hard enough to get lost and think their friend was dead, were taken into police custody. They were committing no crime. They will have trauma from whatever the police do to them.

I’m not the only person who was dismayed by winding down nuclear power worldwide after the overblown situation at Three Mile Island. Then Fukushima caused another scare that could have been prevented, and turns out was not even that severe. If we had continued working nuclear at pace, while winding down fossil fuels we would be in a better situation environmentally now.
