It’s an expensive business though, so we have to charge a processing fee. Of course, to make sure the ticket is legit, we also need to charge a ticket verification fee to ensure that. Card companies are bandits nowadays too, so we are forced to add a card processing fee to cover that, as well as a reservation fee to cover the cost of holding your ticket while you go through the purchase process.
We also add mandatory cancellation insurance (through our sister company) to ensure we don’t have to refund you if the gig is cancelled, only 10% of cost, a bargain!

Fine for if you just need voice, but good luck getting people away from discord.

There should be age walls for some stuff. What that stuff is and how the walls work is up for debate.
In this situation (a store) using a payment method as the age wall works well. In other use cases it would not be as good.
If you could pass an age wall with no privacy loss, then most people wouldn’t have a problem with it (other than mild annoyance)
IMO: the new law is overreaching, they needed to set up privacy protecting ID verification system first if they were going to go that far. It’s an own goal so far…

It’s the best option I can think of, no privacy invasive stuff etc. My only concerns are:
A) if it’s good enough for the government
B) That it requires you to have a credit card.
I do the pools idea too.
But every Christmas I sum my expected non regular expenses (maintenance fees, insurance, dentists, cloud storage, etc) and divide by 12 to get the monthly cost so I can spread out the expected budget busters.
Otherwise August/September give me a shock - lots of big bills then.
