  • So what role are they fulfilling?

Well, right now, the role of fluffing up Donald Trump’s ego with big silver letters at taxpayer expense.

I feel this a lot in this administration. The government actually is too big and it actually does need to be reigned in and seeing some (not all) of these institutions destroyed or crippled is actually gratifying for exactly the reasons you mention. I just wish it wasn’t accompanied with a side of “here’s some piss on your head, it must be raining.” These idiot cosplaying shitheads are not the right tools for the job.

  • Loomer also took aim at U.S. representative Marjorie Taylor Greene, who she said “carries roast beef in her pockets,” per TNR.

“I know she likes to eat at Arby’s,” Loomer added. When asked about whether she was trying to comment on Greene’s body or her sex life, Loomer said, “No. I’m talking about Arby’s, the sandwiches. I’m talking about Arby’s. I would — I’m a very direct person.”

I feel like I’m losing my grip on reality, am I supposed to take something away from this? Is this code or something? Are these people just trolling 24/7 like children despite being in charge of… everything?

  • At what point will we look at these numbers with skepticism? When not one worker is left who can afford their services nor one customer left who wants anything to do with their utterly shit “products” - but they still blow out the quarter with 100 billion? At what point will society recognize that this money can’t possibly represent anything actually real? Will it matter if all of us starve to death and only billionaires are left if the Microsofts of the world will still be able to post 200 billion dollar “profits”?

I’m actually curious. Because I personally think that’s increasingly what all this is. Fake as shit. Some combination of algorithms, cryptocurrency, dark pools and I dunno, the Illuminati I guess.

  • This is a fantastic video. I spend less and less time on Reddit now because every time I’m there I eventually get struck with a “this isn’t real people” feeling after reading something. It will always be either mundane repetitive bullshit or yet another post demanding civil war or stoking a feeling of helplessness.

Lemmy and Mastodon are slow AF but they still feel mostly real.

  • Proton cannot even link to FAQ or customer support pages from its apps, as Apple believes it’s possible that users will then navigate from the support page to a pricing page and upgrade their accounts without paying Apple its fee.

    I didn’t realize this either.

Yeah, this also is why Apple has been so sluggish on PWAs (and why they won’t allow third party browsers). There is literally nothing that can be done in an app that can’t be done quicker and easier as a PWA these days. But how is Apple going to make any money if you can publish your own app and take your own payments? They would then become a hardware vendor and that would absolutely ruin them as a company.

Apple will throw everything they’ve got at this to attempt to maintain the status quo.
