The meetings, known as “audencias publicas,” or public hearings in Spanish,
NYT really thinks its readers are this stupid
In this tech-savvy age, when many get their questions answered online by swiping a phone or clicking a mouse, the consulate sessions are a throwback to another era, when problems were addressed face to face.
“Cliche factory on line two, something about overtime pay?”

Surprised they haven’t called these children super predators yet. Long long history of law enforcement be extremely reluctant to treat children like children when they’re brown children.

Ever since Biden pulled funding from UNRWA most American news orgs just forgot it existed

Yes, the theft of Afghanistan’s currency reserves was shameful and yes, no government in the world right now actually gives a shit about human rights in Afghanistan, but the Taliban are still violent misogynists and theocrats who should be overthrown. If I were Afghani I would be willing to work with a foreign government to do that, even though I know how badly that has worked out for Afghanistan in the past, because the Taliban really are that awful.

I definitely definitely don’t agree with the person you’re responding to, but if you know the whole history of how the middle east got to where it is today, seeing the British Broadcasting Corporation tut tut about human rights in the area might make you lose your mind as well.

unlawful
I mean, it definitely should be, but if some idiot asshole ICE agent thought this Korean was Filipino it seems like our Supreme Court would be ok with this

I mean, that would have been an accurate description of me at age 21

Soon “Our health supplements are the only ones that have been clinically proven to reduce the reported symptoms of radiation sickness, made from only the finest saw dust and snake oil etc.”

Literally better than nothing, but two to five years for being an accessory to mass murder likely years after everyone who knew the victims were dead themselves doesn’t exactly feel like justice

As of April 3rd, he’s considering whether or not to hold them in contempt for something they did March fuckin 14th

But calling her a tourist in the headline is a clear misrepresentation
Sure thing, and if you stay over at a friend’s house and make the bed in the morning it’s their legal obligation to report you for not obtaining a proper license for your housecleaning business first /s

Anyone willing to encourage tourism to America by being such a guide would probably take your money and then find a reason to get you arrested by ICE anyway. Not like you could take it up with a consumer protection agency now.

They are absolutely desperate to fill their quotas, they’re selfish cowards who know how quickly their Dear Leader will throw them under the bus if they don’t

That is important context, thank you. I still kind of think that taking an assertive stand against what the United States is doing to Germany citizens is the kind of clear call this minister probably ought to feel empowered to make, but on the other hand I have a deep appreciation for government workers who feel their obligations to upholding democratic systems, so this is a hard call to make I suppose.

Not that they owe my country any favors or anything, but given their own history I would have hoped this German government agency could do something a little stronger than “this is not a travel warning, just reminding all you plebs to listen to border guards if you don’t want to be tortured”

Good question I don’t have the answer to. I could speculate that this is all likely being sourced from some sort of marketing material that ShadowDragon put out where they just flatly say they’re gathering this information from Tesseract, and in reality they’re actually gathering any information they can on users who search for this software and download this software, but like I said I’m speculating.
If you’re really interested, I would say you should email the author of this article, reach out to Tesseract’s development team, or find a way to get a subpoena against ShadowDragon and/or ICE

Sorry to hear that, try this one

They already routinely pretend that anyone who crosses a border is a criminal in their rhetoric and will find a random bullshit misdemeanor something in 99/100 cases where they want to, but, yeah, this would give them another way to do that. I struggled a bit with laughing at this one because there is a real sinister intent here (thank you for highlighting it btw), but it is also just such smooth brained fascist behavior that I couldn’t help myself.
Hard to know where to begin with all of the history that you’re ignoring or just flat wrong about, but I guess one place to start would be pointing out that the US’s federation of colonies blew up in a civil war like a generation after its founding
