Fucking hell.
Yeah and that’s why people are using cloudflare so much.

Man Lemmy is bizarre lately

I was gonna say, refurbished hdds work perfectly for this. Now, I am kind of reaching that point where a NAS with multiple 20tb hdds is in order but generally you can get pretty far with hdds.

To be fair I really do think they can take the painful task of outlining something in long winded legalese if given the details and laws, but ofc everything needs to be double checked and the LLM needs to be constrained to exact paragraphs and details.
I like AI when it’s used right and I think ppl underestimate their ability to eliminate tedious tasks, but ofc I understand why AI is hated right now. I really hope we can get to a world where court transcriptions don’t lead to carpal tunnel syndrome because they only have to supervise an AI and not type every word out, or where burocracy gets eliminated for the average overworked citizen.
But yeah tech bros fucked that up for all of us for a while.

I gotta be a bit of an asshole and say that the Nuremberg trials were very long and very exhaustive on details and accuracy. The idea was that if the trials just brushed over what happened, Nazis would have a reason to rise again, as the German population would have deemed it unfair. Because of this, I’m sure the allies would have gone over the documents in excruciating detail and even if they had an LLM they would’ve never entrusted it with such an important and brittle task.
It’s definitely interesting to think about how LLMs get used in law practice (if legal in your country) but the historic context just dissipates that train of thought about the Nuremberg trials for me.

I settled on obsidian really quickly as well. And now sync thing + tailscale + obsidian means I am done experimenting and things just work.
I have learned that communication and empathy between men and between women are very different. Other genders tend to have more complex dynamics.
I think women communicate their empathy more openly. Men usually hide their empathy in gestures or phrases. And I think it’s really hard to show empathy as a man and still “conform”, and as an outsider it’s hard to understand the way men show empathy.
That said I think you are right to some degree (although there is a better way to phrase it, hence the down votes), you are kinda limited in how much empathy you get from men because of the way they communicate. And if they show more, their non-conformity can pose a social risk that can be dangerous to their social acceptance / standing, although I might be speaking from my own perspective here as an AuDHD guy. Turns out when you have autism you are a walking risk so learning this is just a matter of time and risk is baked into every social interaction.
What I’m trying to say is: I think you are right, I think the reasons are very complex but I think bro culture needs an upgrade in that regard.

Did both. Setting up your own VPN is a bit annoying but when it works it works. Tailscale is really easy and solid. For folder syncing I can recommend using tailscale and syncthing. Install both on both devices, then connect the devices in sync thing (it will reciprocate) and then you can add a folder and share it with the other device. Latency for syncing can be 10s-3min, plus the actual file transfer speed.
Knowledge level: configuring software and setting up software. Maybe some basic network troubleshooting if it comes up.
It’s never gonna be as easy as paying for a service that does it for you but this setup is also not that hard.
If you have questions feel free to ask me or other nerds on here, I’m sure they can help you ^^~

Yeah the second line had kinky energy for sure.

Sounds fancy. I hope it’s not expensive to use.

It might take a while, but when your PC is working on it you are not and searching for words might be easier ^^
I’m excited to hear how well it works ^^

Long videos or voice notes where you’re usually just looking for a small snippet.
I think this is not the right community for random news

This is probably the best answer. If everything is truly only running on local network and nothing is exposed with a port through your router, you are very safe.
Most issues get introduced when running a server exposed to the Internet.
That said, on the lowest level, if they want to get you, they will. It’s all a risk analysis. And the more interesting you are to adversarial parties, the higher the chances you’ll get pursued.
If you’re Edward Snowden, 99% your calls and conversations are always on record.
If you’re John Doe, truly only your ISP cares when they get a law enforcement request because you really pushed the envelope.
Trending movies are notoriously bad, because movie studios will really try to rake in the revenue.
On the other hand, ripping music from YouTube, no one cares or is able to track it, so risk is very low.

Sir, can I introduce you to depression?

I’m very new to open source but I’d love to get involved but is there a discord or something to get up to speed?

I mean blocking specific countries is stupid anyway. Historically China has been playing games with the EU and the US on a geopolitical level. But: Chinese, European as well as American researchers have been at the core of research on current topics like AI, security, etc. Btw. ironically the scientific landscape is very collaborative and borders on a federated model, it’s actually pretty neat how much researchers don’t care about country of origin.
What I’m saying is introducing geopolitics into open source development or research is one of the most stupid things to do, because it punishes both your and the other country and only benefits uninvolved third parties. It’s literally shooting yourself in the foot.

This is a very interesting perspective.
Although I do think if we don’t have a gigantic leap, AI will never replace programmers, but it sure as heck will make some stuff easier and faster for them.

I like that idea.
I get what you mean but I really don’t mind this post. I didn’t know her, and now I do, and I think that’s cool.
