  • I keep meaning to look up how the Nazis reacted to supposedly “racially inferior” Jewish and black competitors winning events at the 1936 Olympics. I’m sure they’ll use the same rationale.

Edit: well I finally got my finger out. It seems they put them down to anomalies and just kept on thinking they were the best. I expected as much.

One interesting tidbit is that some of the losses were blamed on weather or technicalities hahahaha. Cope.

Jesse Owens (who I just learned won four gold medals) did say that he was treated better in Germany than the US and Roosevelt never invited him to the white house. Shameful. :(

  • Yeah, a friend of mine made a similar argument and I hear it. Personally I’m always right beside a fast charger so it’s not an issue for me.

My phone has an option to auto-stop charging at 80% so I use that. I will occasionally charge it to 100% but like maybe once a month. TBH if it had an option to stop at 90% I’d probably use that as a middle ground (my steam deck does and I use 90% with it). I got 5 years out of my last phone and I’m 3 years into the current one and hoping to get many more out of it.

    edit:

Personally I charge to about 95% and my phone batteries remain at 98-100% condition after 2 years of everyday use.

That’s a good reference point, cheers. Do you not find it a pain to monitor that though?

  • That is a great review. Thank you. Just got it with a spare credit I had and it’ll be next up after I finish Revolutions.

I really don’t mind the time commitment. If anything I prefer longer form, more in depth stuff. Both Revolutions and The History of Rome (same podcaster, Mike Duncan) were very long and I thoroughly enjoyed both.

I highly recommend them both if you’re looking for something in the future. The History of Rome is really excellent though he takes a few episodes to hit his stride as it was his first podcast. It’s 179 episodes long and I was bummed when it was over and have listened to it twice so far.

Edit: If you haven’t seen it, The World at War is absolutely incredible. It was made in the 70s so they got interviews with some of the surviving senior Nazis which is fascinating.

I couldn’t bring myself to watch the horrors of the holocaust episode though. Just couldn’t.
