For better or worse, humans are very good at anthropomorphizing things. Put Googly Eyes on a trash collector and people call it Mr. Trash Wheel.

People think it’s sentient, because if you talk to it, it responds in sometimes unexpected ways. For humans, this is only possible through sentient thought, and so people think that LLMs are sentient, because they assume it’s like them.

It’s also weird because if they get rid of Elon then people would start looking at the actual fundamentals of Tesla which would lead to a much much lower stock price. In December, Tesla was valued at roughly the same as the rest of the worlds auto manufacturers combined, despite selling only 3% of the worlds cars in 2023.

Is this why Trump always cites $300B as theoney given to Ukraine? Because that’s the amount of frozen Russian assets and he hears about it from the Russians all the time?
