I don’t wish to make too many tangential top-level comments, so I am declaring this the tangential thread, but all I can think of is that America is on a path where someday we’ll also have journalists who will literally have to choose between the truth and their own safety. We already have so many who choose lies over the truth when their safety is not questioned.

The US military has had many incidents where it was sloppy as shit. I wouldn’t completely write off the idea that they might just be a lot more incompetent than most people think.

I haven’t read the article, but I have read previous accusations of the same thing, so I assume it’s the same.

Basically, the new AI companies are all losing money, but they are all investing big money in each other which makes it look like the industry is doing well.

I think when Musk says “Western Civilization”, he’s thinking about unbridled capitalism where increasingly rich people think they made all of their money themselves, and meanwhile, the poor people who they exploited and stole all of the money from end up living the lives of a slave.

Basically, almost everybody in the 1% has this sort of skewed view of the world, and all of their experiences seem to back that up. If you don’t think that way, then you’ll stop trying to earn money once you have enough. Almost all of Musk’s billionaire peers are going to think the same way.

Then, he sees somebody like MacKenzie Scott, who didn’t start out ultra wealthy, and who didn’t really fit into that group. But because she was married to the sort of lunatic who belongs in that group, she ended up ultra wealthy. She likely doesn’t share the mental problems that the rest of the group have. So, everything she does is going to seem completely incomprehensible to a person who completely lacks self-awareness like Musk.

She’s just giving away money to people who would otherwise be much closer to the ultimate goal of the slave class. To a guy like Musk, that is the same thing as “the decline of Western civilization.” I think all of the top billionaires share a mental illness, and we, as a democracy, have been remiss in our efforts to help them by setting limits on how much wealth they can accrue.

The title of the article is some serious clickbait. I suggest that you go read the article for yourself or you’ll seriously get the wrong idea.

First, the article is basically not about the VP mocking poor people, but about a lawsuit. A person recorded the VP’s remarks, which allegedly included racist statements against Indian people. He reported the meeting to management, and then he was fired. The article is about a lawsuit for his being fired for reporting racially discriminatory conduct.

(The guy said he recorded the conversation because he thought the meeting would be about his salary, and wanted to get the comments on record, so even if that’s true, it sounds like he knew the VP was a piece of shit who couldn’t be trusted.)

Second, the VP was in IT, and was not involved in the production or sales of food. He had the title of Chief Information Security Officer.

In a big company, VPs don’t actually hold that important of a role in the first place. It sounds like this VP was a serious asshole. Probably the VP’s manager is similarly a seriously incompetent asshole who deserves to be fired, but anybody who has worked in a big company knows these types of guys are a dime a dozen. They weasel their ways in to middle and upper-middle management and it is not rare for them to be completely incompetent and constantly shit on the company and product in private. They often form a sort of asshole clique and make entire sections of a company hellish to work in.

This is probably because of how shitty American trademark law is, more than anything. I’m not a lawyer, but I’ve heard it over and over that trademark owners are legally required to defend their trademarks from potential violators like this, or they can lose the trademark.

Everybody knows this, but why let the truth get in the way of an exciting news story?

“Killings at sea” is a better phrase than some I’ve heard, but I wish they’d emphasize that we are using our military to murder civilians. They are non-military targets.

They were not charged with a crime. They had no chances to defend themselves. They received nothing remotely resembling due process. They were not convicted by a court, nor given the death penalty. We in the US do not execute people for possessing or transporting drugs.

Our military is simply murdering people.

What? They get to vote for that? When do I get to vote whether we let Qatar have a base on American soil?

I have heard that the Tesla board is stacked with people who Elon personally chose. So that is why they constantly give him money and basically do not act anything like a public company. I suspect they are all stealing from the company’s shareholders.

So just firing Elon is not enough. The board needs to be completely replaced, and the new board needs to file the biggest lawsuit in history against Elon and the former board members. That’s really the bare minimum for Tesla to recover.

But most likely, the company simply needs to go under and let some other company buy their IP.
