It’s me. I watch a lot of movies and see arthouse stuff the public doesn’t care about and if something is a big enough train wreck occasionally I’ll see what’s going on (shout out to CATS). Though I have Regal Unlimited so I don’t “pay” for a ticket

A huge point of I, Robot is that there isn’t some exact instructions you can give robots that will have them always protect humanity. They have an inherent danger in their literalism

I think you’re just beginning to identify what The Hero’s Journey is

Well you see one device is made by Microsoft which has been the defacto way to watch videos for a large chunk of its lifespan and the other gave us UMDs and camcorders with cables that could only connect to Vaio laptops, which were the only devices that supported writing to mini-disc

I would not recommend PS5+Plex. I went through the whole set-up and the PS5 couldn’t encode over half my videos. When playback did work it was often choppy. I dislike that it has ads all over the place but the ONN Streaming Pro does a way better job as Plex streaming device at $45 than my PS5. Plus the controller will be much easier for simple tech users, you can rebind one of the buttons to go directly to Plex

You’re correct on fundamentals and technicals, it’s been a while since I took a Financial Mathematics class and I don’t remember doing very well in it regardless

Most algorithmic trading is not done by AI and won’t be at any time in the near future. Algo trading is primarily used for HFT (high frequency trading) and fundamental trading, both of which AI are terrible for. In the HFT world traders are fighting for fractions of microseconds, so AI is far too slow to be helpful. Trading on fundamentals also won’t work with AI because AI makes frequent (by trading standards) math errors

As someone who works in tech I occasionally point out to people that if Jeff Bezos decided to go full supervillain he could hold the internet hostage. If you disabled AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud individually the cascading failures on the various systems would take weeks to fix, which we might not have with a supply chain collapse. Genuinely, I think there’s a real chance it could trigger the collapse of human civilization

I think it’s typically because you lead with the thing people would know them for, or the thing that person is more known for in general. So because there’s so few astronauts, it’s pretty fucking impressive that you think I’m more likely to know their guitar work than their space career

This year alone:
Which are all original movies that are genuinely good. Expanding to others there’s:
You don’t put in the effort to see original movies and then bitch that there aren’t good movies

AI Data centers noticeably fuck with the grid. As a result they are facing internal and external pressure to generate more of their own power. Microsoft is opening a nuclear power plant. I would not be shocked to learn through solar, wind, and coal they provide the majority of their own power

I’d argue tranqilizing someone is a form of “behaving” another person
As a former 22 year old, I should have absolutely been on a leash

I mean the bots don’t help. The sheer number of obviously AI subreddits and response farms is crazy. There’s like 6 prominent “Am I the Assholes”, a bunch of text message “screenshot” subreddits which have always been easy to fake, and a bunch of “explain the joke” ones too. I stop reading halfway through most text posts and comments because it’s obviously AI

This is classic America. I don’t have evidence for this but I have to assume that a large part of why America is having a egg crisis and other nations aren’t is because of the absolutely horrendous and unsanitary conditions of our factory farms. Rather than look around the world and see that better living conditions contribute to a higher quality product, better lives for the animals, and lowered risk of massive disease outbreaks (which could become a human pandemic by the way); we’d rather ship in perishable goods from countries who have already figured that out. Our insane thirst for quarterly earnings reports prevents us from even considering something that would be a long term sustainable solution because it would be ever so slightly more expensive up front
Elon’s stupid ass dedication to using cameras and image processing for self driving will ultimately be what leaves Tesla in the dust. A combination of LIDAR, cameras, and other detection tools are way safer than just cameras alone. I’m not a huge Mark Rober fan but he did show that you can beat Tesla’s self driving with Looney Tunes techniques
