I’m in favor of the disclosures for my own personal reasons, but I see a lot of people who are anti-AI usage based on “vibes” and that does not sit well with me. If people are disregarding the positive benefits of the technology because “vibes”, it makes me doubt the validity of those opinions.

I listened to Kanye for years before he publicly became a Nazi and I don’t think the breadth of his mind changed overnight.
I spent years defending his off-putting public personality because his music touched me from the start.
I really think our pattern seeking monkey brains are easily tricked enough to find meaning in a pile of garbage if we believe hard enough and AI represents this, not proves against it.

It was just a thought I had in the shower. I’m not particularly fond of AI’s impact on the environment or how it was decided for me that I need it on all of my tech. I get and understand where the dislike is. The hate is not isolated to lemmy. I don’t think it’s proportional to other issues in people’s lives or in the world. I don’t know how an individual could ever be at peace if it was. So there’s definitely a big emotional driver to this hate, and emotional minds that negative are easier to grift.
Again it was just a shower thought which is the requisite for this comm.
Moreso the people who can recognize snake oil and think that makes them a pharmacologist.

Because it makes them a lot of potential money. This has been going on since business as old as radioshack logged phone numbers initially to the dismay of the consumer, and whatever the fuck probably bothered people about capitalist practices and privacy before that. I will never understand the hate boner for AI because I rarely if ever encounter it and if I do it’s backend like the thousands of learned algorithms before it. I think AI might actually be revolutionary the way lemmy acts like it impacts their day to day lives.

I’ll call your bet and say that Sweeny is right. I think AI will become so commonplace that there will be no way around it and the market has already been streamlined in this direction.
I would love it if my “feels” could be seen. But that is not reality. This battle is already long lost. Lemmy and the like can rage about it til their flames die out but it is a lost cause.
