  • AAA did a similar service with cars in my area and someone did one with mopeds but both those seem to have died. I had to call AAA several times because people parked the cars blocking my apt building’s driveway so the inconvenient clutter issue seems to scale for some reason. The scooter/ebike service that’s survived so far in my area will unload a whole fleet in the middle of a busy sidewalk and just leave them there it really is quite badly managed. The docked (Lyft) bikes are much less of a nuisance clutter-wise but aren’t well maintained so people don’t use them much.

  • Asked about what concessions, if any, the US had made in the talks, the Commission chief replied with a general remark about shared prosperity.

“The starting point was an imbalance, a surplus (of goods) on our side and a deficit on the US side. We wanted to rebalance the trade relation, and we wanted to do it in a way that trade goes on between the two of us across the Atlantic,” she said.

Let me get this straight… EU has a lot of goods the US needs. US does not have a lot of goods the EU needs. So the EU, which seems to have the upper hand, agrees to sell their goods to the US at a lower price? Is this mainly to avoid stepping on the toes of EU merchants that would like to sell to the US market specifically?

  • Americans have to file taxes with the IRS regardless of who is paying them and where the company is based. There are tax breaks available (on taxes owed to the US) if you are living and paying taxes in europe to avoid double taxation for the most part. It makes the paperwork a little more tricky but it’s still done frequently and isn’t “very unlikely.” The most difficult part isn’t your american taxes it’s making sure you’re paying taxes correctly in your new country. It will make it easier if you work for a multinational company (like Schneider Electric USA, for example) where they already know the ins and outs of taxation in both countries, but I’ve known people to do this out of smaller companies as well.
