I warned when they announced the program that Trump never fucking pays.
Anybody who took that deal was asking to get scammed.

Two people, in fact. First was a Hell’s Angels enforcer. Had lunch at a Chinese restaurant with him and a few other people from my former Kung Fu school. Apparently he was a former student and credibly accused of murdering a rival biker gang member, but the jury was hung and couldn’t convict.
Second was none other than Shrimp Boy, after he got released from prison for the murders he committed but before he got locked up again for the racketeering charges. Met in in Chinatown literally a few days before the feds closed in on him. Shared a cup of tea with him without knowing his identity and didn’t find out until someone present told me who he was days later.

I’m envious. No really, I wish I could pack up my life and move to the Netherlands. It sounds like a fantastic place. I just worry that if so many Americans are fleeing to stable European democracies, that they will eventually become a nuisance and wear out their welcome, regardless of how well behaved some of us might try to be. Our reputation as an ignorant, uncurious and closed-minded people was not entirely unearned.

“I don’t use social media.”
You can’t prove a negative. Shift the onus back onto them. Any attempt at them trying to connect the dots should be met with “That user is not me, any similarities in their name is purely coincidental.”
Create a bogus email not tied to any social media and they won’t have a leg to stand on.
Not to mention how incredibly difficult that enforcing such a policy would be. Could you imagine the manpower required for people to trawl through 5 years of social media history searching for verboten political speech against Dear Leader? Wouldn’t be surprised if they tried to use AI for this, since they’d have a hard time finding enough die-hard Trump loyalists to pack into the DHS to actually perform the background checks at the rate they would need to happen…
Better yet, just avoid coming to this rapidly declining country in the first place.

I’m appreciating the silence while it lasts.

Can the UN even do anything to the United States if they have a unilateral security council veto? I would think that the USA would successfully find a way to argue that sanctioning them for crimes against humanity is not considered a “procedural” decision.

Coming up with a stage name is usually something that agents will tell their clients to do if their name sounds “too ethnic”. Happens when they are auditioning for roles, not when they get famous.
Random fact I heard the other day: Leonardo DiCaprio almost sent out headshots with a stage name at the advice of his agent, but his dad talked him out of it and told him to be proud of his name. I forget what they told him his stage name should be, but it was way more generic and forgettable than his real name.

The thing that will kill this is forcing users to migrate to a new app. Removing the largest friction barrier that prevents people from leaving your app by forcing them to cross it is a great way to scatter the TikTok userbase to the four winds.
I hope this kills TikTok, and that the people who enjoyed using it remember who was responsible for it.

I’m so glad President Trump is focused on the important issues, like renaming bodies of water, mountains, schools, and federal institutions. I didn’t need lower grocery prices anyway.

I don’t really give a shit about the AI race and I genuinely hope that we lose it, because I feel like being a winner in that “industry” is inherently unsustainable.
The AI hype is so infuriatingly frustrating.

Oh yes, let me protest this thing that just happened by throwing my Android-OS phone that I bought years ago away. That’ll show 'em.
You’re just as disingenuous and stupid as the morons on the right who smashed their Keurigs.
FYI, my next phone will probably be a Linux phone anyway and I hardly use YouTube at all these days, and when I do it’s with AdBlockers on, and I never gave a cent to them for premium, so I cost them money to use their platform if anything. If PeerTube or some other non-Google video hosting service could go mainstream, I’d use that in a heartbeat. I’ve de-Googled my life as much as I could reasonably be expected to, and this was before their CEO kissed the ring. So fuck off with your judgemental attitude.

I already hate Apple products, so I can’t not buy them to make a statement about not supporting fascist loving corpo scum.

“I don’t use social media and never have.”
So what are they going to do if someone fires back with this? Deny their visa because they didn’t agree to be spied on by a few of the worst companies on planet fucking earth? Is the government going to be able to somehow make me prove that I don’t have social media?
We have the stupidest people in charge right now.

US: “NATO members need to up their defense spending!”
NATO: “Okay, we’ll do it.”
US: “Actually, We’re leaving NATO.” 🤡

I still can’t get over that the dude’s name is actually Burger, and Burger isn’t being used as a mild slur to mean “American” like I’m typically used to seeing in these sort of greentext posts.
Real life is too wacky.

That’s still the purpose of the second amendment, for people to own guns to defend themselves and others against tyranny
It isn’t, and has never been. The language of the constitution is plain as day:
“A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms shall not be infringed.”
The mythos of the 2nd amendment being this poison pill for a tyrannical state government is only so pervasive because institutions like the NRA perpetuated it for decades in service of arms manufacturers and their bottom line. No sane government anywhere in the world would bake such a clause into their constitution, it’s antithetical to government itself.
The 2nd amendment is absolutely an artifact of a bygone era of American history where, as a fledgling nation, we did not have a powerful standing army to rely on for defense against foreign adversaries. A people’s militia was the final defense against such a threat.
However, all that being said, I agree with your sentiment that leftists should be arming themselves. Just because the 2nd amendment has almost completely lost it’s original intent or meaning, doesn’t mean we can’t take advantage of the fact that it exists with tons of legal precedent to strap up in preparation for what might come next. Things are unlikely to get better from here, and if things get worse you will be glad you have a firearm for protection.

Thank fucking christ. Now hopefully the AI bubble will burst along with it and I don’t have to listen to techbros drone on about how it’s going to replace everything which is definitely something you do not want to happen in a world where we sell our ability to work in exchange for money, goods and services.

Can ChatGPT actually play chess now? Last I checked, it couldn’t remember more than 5 moves of history so it wouldn’t be able to see the true board state and would make illegal moves, take it’s own pieces, materialize pieces out of thin air, etc.
Took goddamn long enough. I really wanted Tyson to be the one to humble him, but I’ll take having him get his jaw broken by a real boxer, not just a retired legend.
edit: Also it’s so funny seeing the number of times he tried to shoot for a takedown. Go back to MMA Paul, you don’t have the skill for a pure striking combat sport.
