Everyone in here going like “What did they expect lol?” needs to get their fucking moral compass checked. Governments are not supposed to do this, and we rely on our governments to do what they say every single day for a lot of things. Blaming the victims for this is wild to me.

I never understood this, maybe they just need the money that badly or are outright threatened.
Why would you believe they would give you money once you’re out of their country. You are no longer their problem.
Believe you are going to be deported anyway but have some trust in “law” so do this so you get something to help you and your family out of it.
