One of these days they’ll realize that putting restrictions on the weapons given to Ukraine is playing into Putins hands. They’re so fearful of “escalation” when Putin’s already escalated.

Putin knows opening up a second front by attacking another former SSR would force the rest of the world to acknowledge what they already know - that he has no interest in any peace he hasn’t solely dictated - and actually respond to the obvious threat. So, he’ll play the war of attrition against Ukraine, Trump will fellate him, Europe will do little, he’ll rebuild his army and go after the next former SSR. Rinse, repeat. Modern leaders have no stomach for dealing with a bully like Putin. Or even a stupid Billy like Trump.

Doesn’t sound like they aren’t saying it “feels like” anything. Sounds like they’re calling it what it absolutely is.

While I genuinely love to see this, I fear it will come crashing down. At some point the one, or both, of two things will happen. Either:

• A government’s private cloud will be hacked, and the argument will be that the security upkeep is too expensive and cause the lapse that allowed the breach.
• Similarly the cost argument, on its own, will rear its ugly head during some future budget crunch and popular thought amongst government leaders will sway back to the ever popular “private industry == efficiency & low cost.”

Hope it doesn’t happen, but history do often be a bitch like that.

At some point, they’re going to have to acknowledge that Israel so badly wants both Gaza and the West Bank. They’ve always wanted it. They don’t give a shit about the Palestinians living there, and they never have. This is their version of manifest destiny. At some point, there will have to be a public acknowledgement that this administration knows this. They’re trying to walk an impossible line of not saying this out loud and yet still moving in this direction as if Palestinians won’t notice. As if this isn’t the reason Hamas exists!

They tend to draw recruits from the same groups of people, though. Difference is firemen don’t have to put handcuffs on anyone, write tickets, or take people to jail. The nature of their job pretty regularly puts them in a position to be the savior. It’s possible that those experiences with their communities can make firemen more empathetic, but I wouldn’t be surprised to learn most of them are at least MAGA-adjacent.

Need to do it the old fashioned Russian way. Get the military heads behind you, overthrow the despot, put him and all his cronies up against the wall, and then the next “strong leader” takes power.
