This could have been good news, however, Microsoft’s insistance on using AI, and general incompetence even without it, makes me very doubtful this will be successful.

They are going to try and replace C and C++ written by actual experts a few decades ago, with Rust written by idiots. Expect tons of logic bugs, and very little measurable difference in memory corruption.

The savings to be made, in terms of money and resources alike, are just staggering. Our current approach to almost every domain is just brute force with a few extra steps, computers included.

The only correct kind of faucet is the kind with a thermostatic handle for temperature, and a separate handle for flow.

They are almost exclusively available for showers and that’s stupid. It’s the correct solution for the problem, with extremely few drawbacks.

The only improvement I could see is making the temperature handle short circuit to the drain until the water going through is hot enough. But I dont know if that’s really possible without electronics, and I really dont want my faucet handles to be plugged in or take AA batteries.

Bitcoin has at best 5 years left until quantum computers just destroy the cryptography they use, so they are right to look for an escape.

I don’t think we have any micro-organisms that would be particularly dangerous to silicon-based life, for example, if we did I’d expect it would be a problem already for our computers and everything made of glass ?

I have been thinking of adding a license clause to everything I make (code especially) that makes any AI trained on it my sole exclusive property, but I don’t know how defensible that would be in court ?

Or any other sort of trap clause. But again, I don’t know how to word it. Like “this makes your model public domain” or “you grant a free worldwide unlimited license to every human on earth”.

Something that makes the mere inclusion of the code in a training data set into absolute legal poison to the would-be owners.
